Ingredients for the Sponge Cake
Plain Flour [Maida] – 100 gms
Sugar – 180 gms [powdered]
Baking Powder – 1 tsp
Vanilla Essence – 1 tsp
Eggs – 4
Butter – 120 gms
Method of the Preparation of the Sponge Cake
Sieve together flour and baking powder. Beat the eggs mildly, and keep it in a vessel of boiling water and add the sugar little by little. Keeping the vessel all the time in boiling water and beat it gently.
Melt the butter, and before it turns into ghee remove from fire. When it cools, pour it into the egg mixture. Add the vanilla essence and beat the mixture continuously. Take it out of the boiling water and add gently to the sieved flour. Immediately pour the mixture into a greased cake tin and bake in an oven of 400°F for 20 minutes. Let it cool. Take it out when it gets cold
